Second Meeting Decisions

Second meeting of the Jeddah Transect Committee, 28/ 29 June 2010

Decision Taken:

Location: Leibniz Institute of Marine Sciences (IFM-GEOMAR), Wischhofstrasse 1-3, 24148 Kiel, Germany, East Shore Campus, Building 8A, Room #101

• JTSC decision #1: 1 July 2010 is determined to be the official starting date of the Jeddah Transect Project.

• JTSC decision #2: The cruise of Prof. Sommer (Project 3) will be scheduled from 23 February to 3 March 2010 (P408-3). Prof. Eisenhauer will be principal investigator for CTD work during the cruise.

• JTSC decision #3: Outlines of all three POSEIDON cruises planned for 2011,comprising information according to the forms provided by KAU and a shortPowerPoint presentation are to be turned in to Marcus Dengler by 9 July 2010.

• JTSC decision #4: The JTSC and all subprojects will meet for a workshop on 1-2 November. The Kick-off meeting of Project 4 will take place on 3-4 November.

• JTSC decision #5: The KAU scientists are going to define their requirements for workshops, short courses and technical training to be offered in Kiel and Jeddah. The information will be provided by November, on occasion of the planned workshop.

• JTSC decision #6: The KAU project members will evaluate the CVs received by GTZ and choose a suitable candidate. This candidate will be invited to Riyadh for an interview in the week from 5 to 11 July.

• JTSC decision #7: An e-mail address jtsc@ifm-geomar.de will be established. The subprojects will be requested to send copies of their e-mails to this address.

• JTSC decision #8: All subprojects are required to prepare at least one publication for an international peer-reviewed journal per year. The first set of manuscripts are expected to be ready in October 2011.

• JTSC decision #9: It is therefore decided that one known and reliable contact journalist will be appointed each for the print media and for visual media in order to establish a mutually beneficial press relationship.
