Third Meeting Decisions


Decisions of the 3rd Jeddah Transect Project Steering Committee Meeting, 3-4 Nov, 2010, Jeddah, Obhur

 Decision Taken: 

 

 

 

 

 

JTSC decision # 3.1: Information concerning contact partners for logistics will be provided to IFM-GEOMAR by the end of November (responsible: Abdullah Rahman).
JTSC decision # 3.2: To facilitate Sub-Project 3 and Sub-Project 4 seagoing acitvities a small boat will be purchased from Logistic Project funds by January 2011. Turki Adnan will be responsible for obtaining offers. Subproject 3 is requested to provide Adnan Turki with specifications for this purpose
JTSC decision # 3.3: The purchase of a MET-Ocean buoy as requested for Subproject 4 is deemed desirable, but not crucial for achieving the goals of subproject 4, as equivalent high quality meteorological data from a buoy at KAUST is available online in real-time. Subproject 4 will be asked to come up with a plan of how to implement additional sensors for Chlorophyll, nutrients, as well as an ADCP profiler with the currently planned systems
JTSC decision # 3.4: To facilitate field activities of all subrojects the GTZ office Riyadh will purchase, rent or lease an appropriate 4-wheel-drive vehicle by the end of 2010. Information on when and how long the vehicle will be needed is requested from the subprojects.
JTSC decision # 3.5: Cruise planning for the years 2012 and 2013 will be deferred to Spring 2011- after the conclusion of Poseidon cruises; target date for the following cruises will be early summer 2012.
JTSC decision # 3.6: KAU will design a student program and send it to IFM-GEOMAR together with a list of names of the visiting students 3 months in advance of the beginning of the program.
JTSC decision # 3.7: Project coordinators will be informed that exchange of German students to Jeddah is encouraged. They are asked to make suggestions concerning suitable students and funding
JTSC decision # 3.8: KAU will provide information on what type of training for technicians is required in Kiel.
JTSC decision # 3.9: Stamped copies of all invoices paid from the Jeddah Transect project funds at IFM-GEOMAR will be sent to GTZ by 30th of January; GTZ will provide an itemized list to KAU for auditing purposes.
JTSC decision # 3.10: Project funds may be reallocated within the subproject budgets as well as between the logistics project and other projects. Notification of the steering committee is requested.
